Free concert Saturday, April 19 from 6-10:30 p.m.

Bernalillo County is proud to present a free concert and stargazing event on Saturday, April 19 at Bachechi Open Space.
The “Jazz Under the Stars” event features music, activities for children, high-powered telescopes, prizes and nature walks at Bachechi Open Space, a 27-acre farm along the Rio Grande bosque.
“Jazz Under the Stars is a great family event, and I want to encourage our community to get to know Bernalillo County’s excellent Open Space program,”Commission Chair Debbie O’Malley says.
Guitarist Ambrose Rivera is scheduled to perform at this free event. Guests are welcome to bring a picnic dinner and enjoy an evening of music under New Mexico’s night sky. (Please note that alcohol is not allowed on county property.)
“Jazz Under the Stars” is hosted by Bernalillo County Open Space, The Albuquerque Astronomical Society and 103.7 The Oasis.

Usually during National Park Week we get free access to parks for the whole week. This year they seem to be cutting back, as the free admission to parks is only on the opening weekend: April 19 & 20. Still, those fee-free days mean you can enter every one of the country’s 400+ national parks for free – and we’ve got plenty to choose from here in New Mexico! During the Free National Park Days on Saturday April 19 and Sunday April 20, all national parks that usually charge for entry, waive the admission fee and you can explore without paying a cent. It’s a good excuse to plan a day trip to visit a park you don’t know yet, or return to an old favorite, with options from the Grand Canyon to Yosemite. The 2014 New Mexico Veterans’ Memorial Foundation – Veterans Presentation Series is holding it’s fourth installment on Saturday, April 12, 2014, beginning at 9:30 a.m. The Memorial is located at 1100 Louisiana Blvd. SE.
Mr. Atilano David, a sergeant in the 31st Regiment, Philippine Division, will share his experiences during WWII in the Philippines.
In July, 1941, The War Department established a new command in the Philippines, with headquarters in Manila. This command was called the U.S. Army Forces in the Far East (USAFFE) and General Douglas MacArthur was recalled as its Commander.
